With enhanced engine horsepower, an available 120-foot boom and an optional luxury cab, the new Case IH Patriot® 3330 sprayer takes the iconic performance of previous Case IH Patriot sprayers and adds a new level of power and productivity. This 1,000-gallon workhorse will be unveiled August 20-21 at the Midwest Ag Industries Exposition (MAGIE) in Bloomington, Ill.
"This model's predecessor, the Case IH Patriot 3320, was the first truly world-class 1,000-gallon sprayer. But like our customers, we're always striving for greater performance," says Ken Lehmann, Case IH application equipment marketing manager. "We listened to what our customers told us, and we challenged ourselves to make the best even better.
"We started with the engine. The Patriot 3330 sprayer features the same reliable Case IH 6.7-liter diesel engine used on the 3320. But, its peak horsepower is increased by over 12 percent and peak torque is increased 5 percent to 789 ft/lb. at 1,500 rpm."
Designed for productivity
Like its predecessor, the Patriot 3330 sprayer features a cab forward, rear engine design, offering the best weight distribution over the front and rear axles of any sprayer in the 1,000-gallon product tank segment. The Case IH design reduces field rutting and compaction, which is more important than ever, with the optional 120-foot boom.
Lehmann explains. "A longer boom means added weight, so weight distribution is critical. Plus, it can mean additional stress on certain areas of the chassis frame, like the boom's parallel-link towers and mainframe rails at the rear of the unit. To handle that additional weight and stress, we beefed up the Patriot 3330 sprayer frame. Key stress areas now have doubler plates and gussets.
"We took a new look at the mainframe, too, and increased the rail tube size from the 10x4x5/16-inch frame we had on our previous model to a 10x6x1/4-inch. So the new Patriot 3330 frame looks a lot like the frame on our larger Patriot 4420 sprayer.
"The payoff is in productivity - with the 120-foot boom in operation, you see a 20 percent productivity advantage compared to a 100-foot boom. With shorter boom lengths, of course, the productivity gains are even greater."
Case IH also is introducing the AutoFold Plus boom fold/unfold feature as part of the 120-foot spray boom package. With AutoFold Plus, the booms are raised out of the cradle and the unfold process begins with the touch of a single switch. About 30 seconds later, the inner-, mid- and outer-boom sections are completely unfolded and the center section height has lowered to its most recent setting. This return-to-height feature eliminates any guesswork about boom height when moving from field to field. Folding the booms is simply the same process in reverse.
Luxury cab and AFS AccuGuideTM ready
The Patriot 3330 sprayer features the Case IH SurveyorTM cab with all the same productivity-enhancing operator amenities found on the Patriot 3320 sprayer. It offers 109.5 cubic feet of interior space. And while other cabs may offer similar space, this Case IH design is optimized for operator comfort. The Surveyor cab seat is centrally located within the cab structure. This seat placement provides a spacious operator environment with plenty of legroom.
"Operators put in many hours during the course of a day, week or season, and they want to be as comfortable and productive as possible during their time in the cab," says Lehmann. "That's why we offer the choice between the Deluxe cab version or a new upgrade to the optional Luxury cab, which features a heated red leather seat, leather instructional seat, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and carpeted floor mat. The Luxury cab option also comes with automatic temperature control (ATC) and intermittent wipers."
In addition, the new Patriot 3330 sprayer is also available with the AFS AccuGuideTM ready option. Case IH autoguidance can mean reduced operator fatigue, because automatic steering reduces stress and lets operators concentrate on the spraying job rather than steering. And by reducing the number of "skips" and "overlaps," AFS AccuGuide saves on fuel and chemical input costs.
Raising the bar
"Our new Case IH Patriot 3330 sprayer enters the 1,000-gallon sprayer marketplace following in the footsteps of previous Patriot Series sprayer models - the industry leader in productivity, customer comfort and innovation," says Lehmann. "With enhancements to the engine, the boom options, operator environment and controls, we feel like we've again set new standards for productivity and operator comfort."
